Problems seem to plague American Automobile manufacturer, Ford. First, it was the crippling recession in the United States and while this company started limping back to near normalcy, its Asian operations suffered a major setback after floods damaged their plant in Thailand severely, affecting the production of the Ranger on.
Now, according to reliable sources, the Ford Endeavor slated for a launch in mid 2012 in India, has been indefinitely postponed due to lack of parts, crucial to the assembly of this model. The Ranger model is sold in Asian countries as Everest, on which the Endeavor is based. Though production facilities have resumed in Thailand, the pace is slow and hence this indefinite delay in the launch.
The Ford Endeavor 2012 has been modeled on the lines of the Ranger/Everest and was eagerly anticipated in India by the car enthusiasts.
The Ranger is not available in India and Ford was set to launch the SUV model under the name Ford Endeavor. Toyota continues to maintain a brisk production of the Toyota Fortuner and seem to be quite happy with the delay in the launch of Endeavor as Ford was hoping to pit this SUV against the Fortuner.
The Ford Endeavor has made substantial and qualitative changes both to the exteriors as well as the interiors of this SUV. This SUV’s interior is more spacious and thus offers more leg room. The vehicle is powered by a 2.2 liter diesel engine capable of producing 150 PS power and a torque of 375 Nm. The older model had a 3.2 liter diesel engine.
This SUV has been designed to weather the tough road conditions in India, though it remains a mystery as to why the engine has been downgraded from a 3 .2 liter engine to a 2.2 liter one. This change could be attributed to the frequent rise in Fuel prices in India. The suspension in the rear has been improved, according engineers at Ford. Other models in the pipeline include the Ford EcoSport, which is set for a 2013 launch date. General Motors is not far behind and will introduce the Chevrolet Trailblazer soon and Skoda is all set to captivate the market with a bigger version of Yeti. So watch this space for some exciting happenings in the coming days.
