Mahindra named its electric car e2o. This car is likely to be rolled out from the house of Mahindra Reva Electric Vehicles Pvt. Ltd. It was initially named as Reva NXR at the 2012 Delhi Auto Expo, its first revelation.

Mahindra e2o will be manufactured at the Bengaluru plant which is capable of producing 30,000 units annually and is also India’s first Platinum certified automobile plant. e2o touches all the 5Cs (clean, convenient, clever, connected and cost-efficient) of Mahindra’s movement which defines the future of mobility.

Mahindra e2o will use next-gen Lithium Ion batteries which can be charged by using a 15 ampere plug point. In fact, customers can either charge it at their home or at workplace. The car will run 100 kms on a single charge. A journey of 100 kms is sufficient for riding in a city. This electric car is also capable of charging itself directly from the sunlight.

Sharing his experience on Mahindra e2o, Dr. Pawan Goenka, President, automotive & farm equipment sectors, M&M Ltd. said, “This is significant step towards creating a comprehensive eco-system of sustainable mobility solutions, encompassing alternative technologies such as electric, hybrid and fuel cells into our research, development and commercialization plans”. He also added that e2o is a game changer and will bring in positive change to the lives of customers.

It seems that Mahindra will soon give a new product to the automotive industry which will justify its commitment to a cleaner environment on earth.
