Maruti Suzuki will reveal the Alto 800, the said successor of the Maruti 800, in the Indian market on 16th October 2012. But company has already started booking for the car through its wide dealership network across the country. Maruti is all set to cash in the upcoming festive season and has also introduced TV commercials for Maruti Suzuki 800. With 15 days in hand for pre-booking, Maruti is hoping to gain some good amount of order for its new vehicle.

Maruti Suzuki Alto 800 will be available in both petrol and petrol/CNG variant. The vehicle is based on the Alto platform and will be powered by the same 796cc three cylinder engine with minor changes to enhance mileage and power. Not only this, the new Alto will be more drivable with the increase torque of about 7Nm. The vehicle is expected to deliver about 22.74 km/l mileage. The engine is quite old but is more reliable and cost effective; hence it is still in the production.

The upcoming vehicle has also received several internal and exterior tweaks. The exterior has been made quite similar to Ford Figo from the front and more like the Hyundai i10 from the rear, this copying has already been the reason for company’s recent mocking. The interiors have been improved immensely but still not much space has been given for the rear passengers. The LXi version will also be supporting driver airbags, which is first for any Alto model. The Maruti Suzuki Alto 800 is expected to be priced at Rs. 2.40 lakhs for the base model and the CNG model could cost about Rs.40,000 more.
