Maruti Suzuki To Recall 13,157 Of Their Diesel Car Models Across India

In an important announcement from India’s leading car maker Maruti Suzuki, the company on Wednesday, 6th April 2011, proclaimed that they will be inspecting the “Connecting Rod Bolt” for 13,157 models of their of Swift (around 6841 cars), Ritz (around 1811 cars) and Swift Dzire (around 4505 cars) diesel cars, whose engines have been manufactured between November, 13th 2010 and December, 4th 2010.

In case the Connecting Rod for any of the cars of these models is found flawed, Maruti Suzuki will be replacing it without any charge. The good thing for the company is that none of the other vehicles of the line up or the models that Maruti Suzuki exports are affected by the problem.

Maruti Suzuki dealers across the India will be contacting the customers that have these flawed models. The company already has dispatched the new part to their dealer workshops.

In their statement company said, “Owners of these diesel cars from Maruti Suzuki which have been bought after November, 13th 2010, can visit company website www.marutisuzuki.com to find out whether or not the diesel model of Maruti Suzuki they are having is among the aforementioned flawed vehicles. Customers will have to put the engine number (D13A afterward 7 digits) on the screen of their computer, for ascertaining whether their diesel engine car is affected by the problem or not. The Engine Number for the car can be found on the registration document of the car and at the same time it’s imprinted on vehicle ID plate. Apart from this the Customers can also visit their Maruti Suzuki dealers’ workshop to find out whether or not their car is one of the flawed vehicles.

It should be known that Maruti recalled around 1 lakh Maruti A-star cars because of faulty O rings and fuel pump gaskets, last year.

  1. I am disappointed after hearing this news. I am the owner of Maruti Suzuki Ritz and my car was in the list of faulty engines.
    Its a Joke that they are replacing free of cost. Let me understand what is free of cost. My car is already in warranty and all the cars which are faulty are in warrantly and they have to do it by force free of cost as the cars in warranty.

    Very disappointed that my car ran only 3000 kms and engine has to be opened up.

      I am also the owner of the faulty car…u are right…and have even extended warranty upto 5 Year wherein they are supposed to do all engine manufacturing defect…free of cost…It is just a game of Goodwill…

  2. I have purchased maruti swift vdi model in August 2010 but i have also same problem my car’s turbo is faulty so my vehicle is not taking pickup, but company recalled the vehicles which was manufactured in between nov.to dec. 2010,
