Taking the extensive advantage of local production, Mercedes Benz GL Class India-made version is costing to us for Rs. 72.58 lakh, which means Rs. 5 lakh cheaper than the imported units that were priced at Rs. 77.5 lakh.

It is the first time that GL Class is being produced outside Tuscaloosa, USA. And it’s the Chakan facility of Mercedes Benz at Pune which is being bestowed with such significantly stratified German temperament.

However, there aren’t any of the differences between the locally produced units and its imported versions, except the prices. The same 2987cc V6 diesel engine producing 258bhp at 3600rpm and 63.2kgm at 1600rpm mated to a seven-speed automatic transmission can be found engulfed in its bay too. The 0-100kph also remains affected; one can translate this for the achievement in just fraction of 8.9 seconds.

Lastly, Mercedes Benz had made this India-made luxury SUV available in three paint jobs only. We guess what the Audi and BMW had to say about this move of the three-pointed star.
