Mercedes plans to introduce its SUV, the 2012 ML Class in India. To begin with, the ML350 CDI SUV, powered by a 3.0-litre V6 diesel will come as Completely Build Unit (CBU). However, if Mercedes has plans for localizing the assembly of the entry level SUV through CKD kits, that could possibly give a chance for the knocked down 2.2-litre four-cylinder diesel engine to be introduced into the SUV.
The German automaker has more to surprise us with this SUV. If the rumors are true, India might be welcoming the high performance version of 2012 ML-Class SUV, later this year. And the introduction of ML63 AMG by mid 2012. This is no ordinary Mercedes-Benz, it’s the AMG tuned version of the 5.5-litre twin-turbo V8 petrol with figures- 518 bhp, 700 Nm. However, with the AMG performance package, the power-torque figures towers to this-560 bhp, 700 Nm. With a 0-100 kmph of under 4.6 seconds and top speed of 280 kmph, it is going to give a tough time for the Cayenne and Range Rover Sports.
A 7G speedtronic automatic transmission will be mated to the AMG tuned motor. The ML63 AMG will also be given aggressive get up with, wider bumper, wider air intakes, a rear diffuser, larger alloy wheels, quad chrome tipped exhausts and distinctive AMG badging.
