The largest SUV manufacturer of India, Mahindra and Mahindra is all geared up to launch five new cars in the coming months. The first among this bunch of five would be a minivan which is based on the platform of Mahindra Maxximo. This vehicle is scheduled to be launched within the first three months of the 2012. So it should be out by the end of April 2012. This new vehicle will be promoted as a personal passenger car.

Mahindra Reva NXR is the most interesting among all because this is an electric car. Now with the rising fossil fuel price the customer is looking for an alternative option. It runs at a top speed of 105 kph and with one charge it can cover a distance of 160 km. With its new stunning looks, this 2 person car is extremely comfortable and easy to park because of its small size. The usual problem with all the electrical vehicles is determining how much battery power is left or when to charge. This hatchback has Revive, a technology which is apparently high-end according to the current standards. It will let you drive your car around even if your car is almost out of charge. Along with that Reva NXR can pre-heat or pre-cool the car, shows time-to-full charge, automatically unlock the door as you approach the car, it can even send you full detailed mail reporting on your driving habits. Pretty impressive for a small car, I say. To top everything off, it is powered by lithium-ion batteries and this car is going to give a tough time to Nissan’s electric car ‘Leaf’. With a price of approximately 4 lakh, it’s the best buy a fuel savvy person can get.

Rexton is going to be a new entry in the SUV segment from Mahindra and Mahindra with its Korean partner Ssangyong. This powerful vehicle with a 2.7 Liter, five cylinder turbocharged diesel engine which will make a total of 162 bhp and 34.8 kgm with a 5-speed automatic gearbox, is expected to hit the market by the second quarter of this year. Priced around Rs.18 lakh, it will get a tough and nasty competition from the already present Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour and Mitsubishi Pajero in the Indian automobile segment of SUV’s. Even with that kind of competition the company expects to make a sale of 500-600 units every month once it is launched.

Another SUV, Konardo in its new variant is also in the pipeline for launch but dates are not yet confirmed. The final fifth car is going to be a sedan, Verito, with the DIS (Driver Information System) you are in complete control by receiving the data on average consumption of fuel, speed and distance to empty. With an option to choose from a Renault’s 1.5 Liter Diesel CRDi engine or 1.4 Petrol MPFI engine, it is set to make waves once it’s in the market.
