Nissan Sunny caught testing in Chennai

The  last two months have seen frenetic launches and much more in the Indian auto industry. Here comes a news fresh off the oven and that is that the Nissan Sunny, the entry level sedan based on the Nissan Micra’s V platform was caught testing near Nissan’s Oragadam facility in Chennai for the umpteenth time. The car has been long in the offing for its Indian launch and was being extensively tested in most parts of the country with a high camouflage. However recently some spy shots say that this car is near ready for its debut as the camouflage is a bit more of the revealing types now. Earlier on it was highly predicted that this car would make it to Indian soil by the end of 2012 however seeing the new spy pictures, it is very evident that this car is nearing its launch here in India.

There would be a petrol and diesel motor on offer initially with manual transmission. The 1.5 liter diesel, which can be found under the hood of the Nissan Micra and the Mahindra Verito would be the obvious choice of engines. It will however make a superior 106 Bhp of power. There is also a 1.6 liter petrol which would make close to 100 Bhp of power and would be one of the most powerful engines in its class. 6 speed manual transmissions would be standard feature and this car would be up against the Mahindra Verito, Toyota Etios, Tata Manza and the Maruti Swift Dzire. Pricing would also be on the competitive side though it is said that this car would be devoid of most of the features that the other cars would sport. This car is successfully sold by Nissan Motors in more than 160 countries however in India, it may have to change the name as the Sunny name is registered by Bajaj Motors for its first scooterette. However all things are speculative as of now and more details would only be revealed once the car is launched in India.
