Consumers in India have been eagerly waiting to see the BSIV norms compliant petrol variant of the Premier Rio. The wait seems to be nearing an end with Premier, the car manufacturer from India, taking the decision to unveil the petrol variant of the Premier Rio SUV at the Delhi auto expo. However, lovers of diesel variants are going to be made to wait for some time more to see the Rio diesel version. The Premier Rio has been fitted to a new petrol engine of 1.2L that has been fine tuned to conform to the new BSIV norms of emission. At the same time, the engine has been provided with the capacity of generating maximum power of 75.5Bhp and a peak torque of 105Nm so that it can be an efficient performer particularly in those cities that follow the BSIV norms. The auto manufacturer has, however, postponed launching diesel version of this compact SUV to a later date. As things are shaping up as of now, it does not look likely that the diesel version is going to be launched any time before the middle of 2012.

Premier BSIV compliant Rio petrol to be unveiled at the Delhi Auto ExpoThe diesel variant of the latest Premier Rio is going to feature a Fiat manufactured 1.3L diesel engine under its hood. It is expected that the prices of this latest compact SUV is going to be increased. However, the manufacturer is expected to keep the Premier Rio pricing at such a range that it will offer good competition to the Chevrolet Tavera and the Mahindra Bolero in its segment. The main reason for providing the car with its latest facelift is to increase its suitability in the cities that follow the BSIV norms. The auto giant, which has been the creator of the famed Premier Padmini, had come out with its Premier Rio previously. But the car had been recently failing to achieve the revised standards of emission. Hence, the auto manufacturer has taken the decision of bridging this gap by bringing out the latest variant of the Premier Rio that has been launched recently in the market.

However, this compact SUV is not going to be placed for sale in the markets before January 2012, which is only a few days away. The car maker is also taking longer time than it is actually needed to come out with its latest diesel version that is going to lend it with the desired competitive edge in the recent times. The diesel variant of the Premier Rio is still being sold with its 1.5L engine that has been sourced from Peugeot Citroen and has the capacity of generating a maximum power of 65Bhp. As far as the changes given to the exteriors of the latest Premier Rio, it is going to continue with similar design lines to the latest Zotye Nomad SUV. The Nomad, which has been designed for marketing in China, has also been the source of inspiration for the Premier Rio, as far as the design elements of its exteriors are concerned.
