Renault India has finally launched its Renault Duster SUV after a long wait. Recent trends have shown gradual increase in the demand of SUVs. The Renault Duster is expected to challenge the dominance of sedans primarily because of two reasons – being a compact SUV as well as affordable (price close to sedan) at the same time. With its launch, Duster seems to promise good value for money options for buyers in India. As of now, Renault Duster is manufactured in five countries. Renault India has its Design studio in Mumbai, along with Renault Logistics Centre in Pune and Engineering and manufacturing units in Chennai.
The Renault Duster will be made available in many trim level and engine options. The petrol avatar of the car has two trim levels – RXE & RXL, while the diesel version will come in RXE, RXL and RXZ variants. The Diesel RXE and Diesel RXZ will come with 85 PS Diesel engine and 110 PS Diesel engine respectively. The mid-diesel variant, Diesel RXL will come with both, 85 PS and 110 PS Diesel engine options. This means that the car has 6 variants across three trim levels and engine options. The petrol avatar will feature a 1.6L Petrol engine, while the diesel engine will be of 1.5L (for both 85 PS and 110 PS).
The petrol engine (for both, RXE &RXL) generates a power of 101bhp @5850rpm and 145Nm of peak torque @3750rpm. The engine is mated with a 5-speed manual transmission and offers a mileage of 13.24kmpl. The 1.5 L 85 PS diesel engines(for RXE & RXL) useCRDi system, producing 84bhp@3750rpm and maximum torque of 200Nm@1900rpm. The car has a 5-speed manual transmission and delivers a mileage of 20.46kmpl. The 1.6L CRDi 110 PS diesel engines (for RXL & RXZ) churn out peak power of 109bhp@3900rpm and torque of 248Nm@2250rpm. The engine is mated with a 6-speed manual transmission gearbox offering a mileage of 19.01kmpl.
The Renault Duster RXE and RXL petrol will cost Rs.7.19 lakhs and Rs.8.19 lakhs respectively. As far as the diesel avatars’ pricing is concerned, the Diesel RXE has been priced at Rs.7.99 lakhs, RXL 85 PS for Rs.8.99 lakhs, RXL 110 PS for Rs.9.99 lakhs and RXZ 110 PS for Rs.10.99 lakhs. However, the company has a provision of an option pack with the RXZ 110 PS too. The car with option pack will cost around Rs.11.29 lakhs.

Renault Duster will be available in six colors, viz. Pearl Supreme White, Pearl Galaxy Black, Metallic Moonlight Silver, Metallic Graphite Grey, Metallic Fiery Red and Metallic Woodland Brown. The car can be fetched from any Renault showroom across the country. Over the years, the dealership count under Renault has gone up from 14 to 55. The company is planning to take the count to 100 by the end of this year.
