The New BMW X4 Has Its World Debut: 2014 NYIAS

The latest addition to the X family, the BMW X4, made its world debut on Wednesday, April 16th at the 2014 New York International Auto Show. The new BMW X4 provides the premium midsize segment its first taste of the SAC (Sports Activity Coupe) concept. Like its larger sibling, the BMW X6, the X4 offers an unmistakable and unique presence on the road. It delivers a unique combination of driving dynamics, all-road capability and style, which can only be available by a BMW Sports Activity Coupe. The X6 has demonstrated the appeal of the Sports Activity Coupe concept with 250,000 sold to date.

The color palette is pretty standard on BMW X4, similar to the other X models. The second Sports Activity Coupe can be available in Glacier Silver, Mineral White, Melbourne Red, Mineral Silver, Sophisto Grey, Deep Sea Blue, Black Sapphire, Sparkling Brown and Alpine White and Black. Inside the cabin, customers also have a wide selection of leathers and trims to choose from. It can also be ordered with two predefined packages, M Sport and xLine.

Prices for the 2014 BMW X4 start at €45,600 for the X4 xDrive20d trim with its B47 engine generating 190 horsepower. Then at €46,100 base price we have the gasoline powered X4 xDrive20i with 184 horsepower. 61 hp more beneath the hood of X4 xDrive28i will set you back at least €51,700. For the top line 6-cylinder petrol powerplant with 306 horsepower BMW asks €58,000. The 258-horsepower BMW X4 xDrive30d costs a minimum of €55,100, whereas the xDrive35d has a price of €60,100.

In United States, the BMW X4 will be available with a choice of two TwinPower Turbo engines. The X4 xDrive28i, with a MSRP (Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price) of $45,625 (including handling and destination), will feature the 2.0-liter 4-cylinder 240 horsepower engine, whereas the range-topping X4 xDrive35i with an MSRP of $48,925 (including handling and destination) will output 306 horsepower.

BMW X4: Is it A crossover Or An SUV?

The German automaker has announced that the 2015 BMW X4 will be introduced on 6th March. While we don’t have any official pics; however the automaker has teased its latest sports utility vehicle in a short video ahead of its debut later this week. It is a new compact crossover sports utility vehicle, which will share engines with X3, including an array of four and six cylinder in both diesel and gas format. It will be slightly bigger than X3; however smaller than X5. Refined details, sculpted contours and striking proportion as far as the eye can see with the BMW X4, the X6 Sports Activity Coupe success story blazes a trail into the new vehicle class.

The all-new BMW X4 exudes dynamics from all angles. Thanks to its powerful rear and front with short overhangs, extended glass surfaces, long wheelbase and wedge shaped silhouette, this concept send out a message even before it is left the blocks; it is a vehicle which is simply raring to hit the road. In 2013, the automaker revealed a concept version of X4 and it is likely that the production version will remain very close to the original concept.

BMW X4: Is it A crossover Or An SUV?

Expect the X4 to have its American debut next month at New York Motor Show before it goes on sale later in 2014. The base model will be propelled by a 2.0 liter 4-cylinder turbocharged engine, which is good for producing 240 horsepower; whereas the range-topping X4 will be powered by an inline 3.0 liter 6-cylinder engine that’s good for pumping out 300 horsepower.

The automaker is yet to confirm if an M version is in the works.
