It seems to be the Tata’s best launch of this year. Eyed the hatchback segment for past many years, but faced failures in most its launches, this time the India based carmaker had launched a new hatchback ‘Bolt’ in India for a starting price of Rs 4.65 lakh ex-showroom Mumbai – with the 1.2-litre Revotron (petrol) engine. The diesel kicks up the segment from Rs 5.75 lakh ex-showroom Mumbai with 1.3-litre Quadrajet engine.

This car is rolled out as a newbie under the pretext of Tata’s Horizonext strategy of diving aggressively back into the business again. The sources also revealed, Bolt is designed at company’s European designing centre, a special benefit derived of acquiring the international brands like JLR.

As touted, the petrol motor is powerful enough to produce 90PS at 5000rpm and 140Nm of peak torque between 1500-4000rpm. The diesel machine is tuned to produce 75PS at 4000rpm and 190NM of peak torque between 1750rpm and 3000rpm.

Both the engine types are mated to a five-speed manual transmission, with no AMT is given at this moment.

If made a purchase in the petrol variant, buyers can choose from three different modes to drive: Eco, Sport and City. All of them go by their name in playing the character of the steering feel when selected.

Talking the fuel-economy, Revotron 1.2T delivers 17.57 km per litre and diesel delivers 22.95 km per litre as per ARAI.

Unlikely to the Indica, Bolt predecessor, this new bee of Tata flairs better quality interiors, and notched up equipment levels. To name a one of them, it’s the Harman system deployed in this hatchback, whereas the safety features too are perched upwards coinciding the latest trend of industry.

In total, four variants of each fuel-type is launched, which we had mentioned at the end of this post with the price tags, and following are the paint shades available on the sales floor for Bolt: Pristine White, Venetian Red, Sky Grey, Platinum Silver and Dune Beige.
