Tata Motors recently filed an amendment to their earlier petition in the Singur land case on Monday that included new developments and facts that were not included in the earlier petition that was filed June 22.

The earlier petition filed by the company before the Calcutta HC had challenged the Singur Land Act 2011s constitutional validity. This act was enacted by the government of West Bengal led by Mamata Banerjee. According to a spokesperson for the company, they had hurriedly filed the earlier petition so that certain developments and facts were not included in it.

The company stated in a release that they made an amendment to their earlier petition that was filed June 22 in a hurry as they were dispossessed the earlier night. The amendment to the petition records certain developments and facts that were not included in their previous petition on that night. Because of this there were some technical objections that are now been dealt with.

The lawyers representing the government of West Bengal led by AG Anindya Mitra had accused the petition of repressing material facts and being misleading. The release further stated that they filed the amendment, so that they can receive a reply from the state government by July 7, which was the time allotted to them by the HC of Calcutta.

The amended petition will most probably be heard on July 7 by Justice Soumitra Pal.
