Well, its here a day just after we announced that the Tata Venture would be on the Indian roads soon. It is the first car to be launched in 2011 and from our own desi brand, Tata Motors. Tata Motors sure does know how to hog all the limelight. The multi purpose diesel vehicle named the Tata Venture has been launched in a phased out manner in Rajasthan.

This car would be a direct competition to the Maruti Suzuki Eeco. Company’s top brass have said that this car would have the foot print of a small car however the space inside it would be similar to a utility vehicle. Since the Maruti Eeco or the Maruti Omni for that matter don’t boast of much safety features, the Tata vehicle has an advantage to it. It features side impact beams along with a collapsible steering column to protect the occupants in the event of a crash. The current Indian crash safety requirements are met by this car. The comfort features for both the passengers and driver include electronic power steering, reverse parking sensors, engine immobiliser with keyless entry, rear wipers and power windows.

Mr S Saxena, Head of Marketing and Sales, Tata Motors, stated that this is an important step forward for the company as regards to the volumes segment. He also said that gauging by the response of the Rajasthan public towards the Tata Venture, it would eventually be launched across all of India. It must be noted that he was optimistic about the car doing well in the Rajasthan sector since it is a customer friendly and cost effective proposition. 24 dealerships in Rajasthan are ready to sell the Tata Venture. Currently it would only be available with the 1.4 diesel power plant from the Tata Indica. The company has no plans to introduce a petrol variant since the market doesn’t demand for one as of now. The Tata Venture would be made available with three row front facing seats and in five, seven and eight seater configurations. There would be an option to choose from amongst 5 colors. We are yet to test this vehicle and would hence reserve our comments on its space quotient. It is been offered at a mouth watering price of Rs 4.05 lakhs for the base version and going upto Rs 5.08 lakhs for the eight seater variant. All these prices are ex-show room, Jaipur.
