Famous Dutch navigation systems company TomTom have started selling their wares in India. This company makes navigation software, maps and also hardware for the same. Infact the company has a facility in China from where they would be importing the devices for the Indian market.
The problem lies in the fact that TomTom are openly saying that their devices wouldn’t work in India since as of now, the system hasn’t been adapted to the Indian roads and names. Neither is the system programmed to take the Indian street names or numbers. TomTom is working on this and probably towards the end of this month, they would have sorted out the algorithm needed for the same. Not only this, the company is also looking forward to explore OEM opportunities as also set up their own facility in India. Globally, TomTom is a famous name as far as the navigation devices are concerned and have a great reputation for reliability and also affordability.
