Toyota Etios and Liva diesel models launched today

In a bold move, Toyota Kirloskar Motors (TKM) launched the diesel variants of their highly successful low cost cars, the Etios and Liva. Mr. Hiroshi Nakagawa, Managing Director at TKM was present at the  launch along with Mr. Sandeep Singh, Deputy Managing Director, Marketing, TKM. The former in his speech said that seeing the urgency with which the Etios and Liva customers were demanding a diesel engine and also the fact that in India even super luxury cars have diesel engines under their hood, it was but natural that Toyota would launch the Etios and Liva with diesel fuel running through them. As of now, there are about 33k customers who have the petrol versions of either car.

Both the cars are fitted with the 1.4 liter common rail diesel engine, which is borrowed from the Corolla Altis, albeit in a detuned status. This engine would be developing 66 Bhp of power and 170 Nm of torque. A 5 speed manual transmission would be on offer. The Etios diesel would be offered in 4 new variants namely GD, GD (SP), VD and VXD while the Liva diesel would be offered in GD and GD(SP) variants. As per ex-show room Delhi prices, the Etios diesel is priced at Rs 6.44 lakhs and the top end version goes for Rs 7.87 lakhs. For the Liva diesel, the prices start from Rs 5.54 lakhs and goes upto Rs 5.78 lakhs.  Both the cars have an ARAI certified mileage of 23.59 kmpl.

Toyota Etios and Liva diesel models launchedToyota have recently ramped up production of the Etios twins 120000/yr to 210000/yr. Both the cars can be booked from today with a booking amount of Rs 50k.
