Volkswagen Reports Sale of 7,000 Units in April

Volkswagen, Europe’s largest auto manufacturer, has been vying for the world’s top auto company spot for some time now. The company hopes to achieve this aim by focusing on the emerging Asian markets like India and China. Volkswagen’s Indian division had good news for the manufacturer, as they announced their sales figures for the month of April on Monday.

VW India managed to sell 7,000 vehicles last month, which included 6,621 models of the Vento and Polo. Volkswagen’s new Passat model which hit the Indian markets this year in early April, was met with a tremendous response from their customers. According to the company, the model managed to sell above 190 units in under a month, becoming the highest sales figure achieved by model to date.

Neeraj Garg, Volkswagen India’s board director for passenger cars, said they are very happy with the initial response that greeted their recently introduced Passat model and are looking ahead to the models continued success. He also added that the sales of the Vento and Polo have been doing consistently well, most of which they owe to increased brand awareness particularly their ongoing association with the popular cricket league, IPL.
