Volkswagen to launch Polo GT TDI in India on 13th September 2013

Volkswagen Polo GT TSI (petrol) has been launched in India since days back, now it’s the turn of Polo GT TDI (diesel) to make the debut for Indians, which is said to happen on “13th September 2013”.

Just like Polo GT TSI the GT TDI is also the performance edition of standard Polo diesel. On the launch, one can book his diesel Polo GT TDI by paying a sum of Rs. 50,000 only. Deliveries are said to start very shortly after the launch. Meanwhile some of sources reported, dealers had receiving the cars in their inventory stock, so it means the launch may conclude somewhere in this week or in the next one.

Prices expected to be near to Rs. 8.25 lakhs ex-showroom Mumbai, which means it will be Rs. 1 lakh premium than the regular 3 cylinder Polo 1.2 TDI Highline model. However, it is learnt, the diesel heart which is meant to be deployed in the bay of Polo GT TDI will be of 1.6L, with an extra cylinder (i.e. of total 4 cylinders) for the performance. The additional cost applied on this upcoming Polo would be the government duties imposed for deploying engines above 1.5L capacity in the small car.

However, technical outputs will be similar to the ones extracted from Vento, and if this may happen, just as said, the numbers of 105Hp and 250 Nm of torque will make this hatch a most powerful one in the country, beating down even the Tata Indica Vista D90 and Fiat Punto of 90bhp of power at its best.

Resembling cues to its petrol version, all the cosmetics will be of high-standard inside the cabin, rear spoiler on outside, and GT TDI scuff plates and sporty pedals to complete the overall sporty looks.

In fact we are quite excited about this launch from the stable of Volkswagen this time, because the last one ‘CrossPolo’ and prior to that ‘Polo GT TSI’ have garnered good responses in the market, despite the only downfall to them were their expensive price-tags.
