Remembered the 2014 Range Rover Sport that was revealed at 2013 New York Auto Show via the hands of Daniel Craig aka James Bond? If couldn’t, then the image at the end of this post will explain the whole story. Hence, now concentrating on the news, 2014 Range Rover Sport is now finally spotted on the soils of India!
This seems to be the first spy-shot of 2014 Range Rover Sport on Indian shores, as simultaneously it confirmed the new hype of said model plate which was earlier rumored be launched here by October 2013.
Though 2014 Range Rover Sport has derived chassis from the elder sibling Discovery, it is said be the fastest Range Rover ever made.
The third generation Range Rover Sport has taken most of the styling cues from the younger sibling Evoque, where reclining roofline and blackened roof withstanding the red paint job helps the luxury off-roader to stance us firmly.
Interior of 2014 Range Rover Sport is too seemed bolstered of indefinite luxuries. Well, it is not doubt that confirming price tags will be an aggressive one for the competitors to be left parched behind. ‘Five’ and ‘seven’ person seating options meant to be delivered on the India-specific model. Hence luxurists like Merc and Audi and BMWs will now have to talk up a new language for beating down this British marquee to the dust.
Engine options of 5.0-litre supercharged petrol engine and 3.0-litre V6 diesel will be lugging the new Sport.
Price expectations not meant to be lesser than the speculated slot of Rs 1.2-1.4 crore.

The 2014 Range Rover Sport will be on sale in the Indian market, most likely, in the festive season. The company had been previewing this car through various teasers and spy shots recently. This 2014 Range Rover Sport, as the name suggests, offers a sportier version of the 2014 model of Range Rover.
Range Rover is a car manufactured by Land Rover. This is a British manufacturing firm that specializes in designing 4 wheel drive cars. It came into existence in the year 1978. It falls under Jaguar Land Rover which is owned by Indian automobile manufacturer, Tata Motors. Land Rover has been regularly sold and bought with a history 7 owners till 2008. Presently it is owned by Tata Motors.
The first ever pictures of Land Rover’s Range Rover Sport were revealed in the year 2004. This SUV made its debut as a concept car at the North American International Auto Show in the year 2004. Although the name gives the perception that it is a sport version of Range Rover, in reality it is a completely new car making the use of an LR3 chassis. The car entered the markets in the end of 2005. This 2006 model has stayed in the market since then. The 2014 Range Rover is the second generation Range Rover Sport which made its debut at the New York auto Show in March 2013. The chief guest at the launch party of this car was the man with the James Bond fame, Daniel Craig.
Talking about the look of this 2014 model, it looks like an intermediate between the 1st gen Ranger Rover Sport and Range Rover Evoque. The car has a floating roof and has extended head lights. This new gen model weighs a total of 460 kg lesser than the previous model. It is also significantly faster than the previous model. The most appreciable addition made to this new model of Range Rover Sport is the optional 3rd row seat. This seat remains under the boot floor until needed and can provide space for 2 children.
In India, it will be launched in two variants- petrol and diesel. The diesel run model will have a V6 engine with a 3 litre fuel capacity, offering a maximum power output of 297 bhp and a torque of 600 Nm. The petrol run model has a super charged V8 engine with a fuel capacity of 5 litres, offering a maximum power output of 510 bhp and a torque of 625 Nm. Both the variants will offer an all wheel drive system only which will be mated to an 8 speed ZF auto transmission. The car will not see any localized production and will be imported into the country as Completely Built Units (CBUs).
The 2014 Range Rover Sport is expected to cost around Rs 78 lacs. The super charged V8 petrol variant can be priced somewhere around Rs 92 lacs by the company.
2014 Range Rover Sport had created a lot of hype in global media when it was revealed, and to be true as the brand being owned by an Indian organization called Tata Motors, it is possible that carmaker may launch the same on our local shores too.
A report on the OnCars has gone extreme and had specifically determined ‘October’ for the launch of 2014 Range Rover Sport to happen on Indian soil.
Well, this piece of news still remains on shaky grounds but looking at the Jaguar F-Type launch on Indian shores very shortly after the global revelation, it becomes more frugal in our context for the happening to be conducted on our local land in the bespoken month.
2014 Range Rover Sport is hopefully the fastest amongst its entire in-house model plates and is lighter than outgoing model too, i.e. due to the light weight aluminum body.
Internationally, the Range Rover Sport is given down with three engine options – 3.0 litre TDV6 diesel producing 258bhp, 3.0 litre SDV6 diesel smelting 292bhp and a 5.0 litre supercharged V8 petrol wobbling 503bhp. All the engines are paired to 8-speed automatic transmission, which we expect the same may also be launched here very soon.
Range Rover had launched the new Sport model at NY Auto Show via the hands of James Bond aka Daniel Craig. Mr. Bond drove this beauty all the way from Big Apple streets to the venue and hence overwhelmed us in the much augmented manner.
Claiming the newness in the cool yet sophisticated avatar, 2014 Range Rover Sport had defined trendsetting benchmark of industry, with the tweaks like blackened upper and red colored lowers; had taken us to fall for it again and again! Though, going to hit many market in this year itself, the makers of Sport, we mean Tata, will launch this luxurious off roader in the month of September on Indian shores. This piece of news was shared by Mr. Rohit Suri, Jaguar Land Rover India’s head, during an interview with CarDekho.
The New Range Rover Sport is made on the Premium Lightweight Architecture (PLA) platform and will see the engine options of 3.0-liter TDV6 diesel and 3.0-liter SDV6 diesel producing 258bhp and 292bhp respectively. There lays another variant too, it will be on the top of all claiming imperialism with 5.0-liter supercharged V8 motor churning out bravely 503bhp. All three are having impressive 0-100 kmph ratios. The new generation Sport had shredded the conventional boxes from corners and wears the new swift curves around the same. We expect the prices to be lugging around Rs. 90 lakh bracket for Indian fraternity.
