Skoda Increases Deliveries, Sales Revenue And Operating Profit In First Half Of 2014

Marking the significance once again, Skoda has increased deliveries, sales revenue and operating profit in the first half of 2014. Selling 522,500 vehicles, this was the first time that the Czech carmaker has delivered more than half a million vehicles worldwide in the first half of a year (January to June 2013: 464,600; up 12.5%). Sales revenue also increased in the same period, setting a new record for the first half of a year of six billion euros (5.974 billion euros). This is an increase of 20.3% over the first half of 2013 (4.966 billion euros). Operating profit increased compared to the same period last year by 74.9% to 425 million euros.

“Skoda did very well in the first half of the year and continues on a stable path of growth,” says Skoda CEO Prof. Dr. h.c. Winfried Vahland. “The brand’s strength has been demonstrated through the best first-half sales year in corporate history and the significant increases in sales and revenue. Our model campaign is now showing its full power, and we are even conquering new consumer groups. The new Octavia, the heart of the brand, has been a great hit in every respect, and has exceeded our expectations. We plan to continue along this path of growth and energetically continue the most comprehensive product campaign in our corporate history.”

Skoda’s sales revenue reached 5.974 billion euros in the first half of the year – 20.3% higher than the first six months of 2013 (4.966 billion euros). Over the same period, operating profit increased 74.9% to 425 million euros (first half of 2013: 243 million euros). The operating margin, at 7.1%, was above the previous year’s figure of 4.9%. The increased profit was due in part to the higher number of deliveries and also to the enhanced model line-up and more favourable product costs. Net liquidity rose by 41.9% to 1.855 billion euros. Investments amounted to 149 million euros (January to June 2013: 265 million euros).

Skoda has grown profitably in the first half of the year,” says Skoda CFO Winfried Krause. “The investments we made into the new models are paying off. Besides the higher profit, the increase in net liquidity also demonstrates the company’s financial strength. Skoda also expects increases in sales, sales revenue and profit for the full year. In light of the fiercely competitive environment, strict cost discipline remains our central concern.”

Skoda India Introduces 24X7 Roadside Assistance Program Across Entire Model Range

Starting from today (i.e. 1st August 2014), Skoda Auto India extends its 24X7 Roadside Assistance program (RSA) to its customers across the entire model range. The service will be able for a period of 2 years and will benefit customers who are not covered under standard Road Side Assistance program. It will also be available to customers who want to extend their coverage of this service.

The program will assist Skoda car owners and occupants in case of breakdown eventualities no matter where the customer is located i.e. at home, on the roadside, on a highway or in a parking lot etc. The 2 years Roadside Assistance program (RSA) coverage for vehicles less than 5 years (across models) can be availed at Rs. 3,233 and for vehicles older than 5 years (across models) at Rs. 4,233.

Customers can purchase the Roadside Assistance program from authorized Skoda dealerships across the country. The program is strictly not a part of regular service program and does not substitute the need of regular maintenance carried out in the Skoda authorized workshops.

Skoda India Organizes Monsoon Checkup Camp For Its Customers

The monsoon is yet to bring rains, but it seems it’s raining heavily at the SkodaAuto India – as they have announced a Monsoon Checkup camp for its customers. The month long initiative will be available across all authorized Skoda service centers between 1st July 2014 and 31st July 2014.

Under the pretext of this initiative, customers will get a 30 point complimentary check across their cars. Through this monsoon check-up camp customers will benefit from a thorough examination of the AC, engine, steering, battery, electrical system, tire breaks, wiper and headlight check, and other exterior and interior inspections. The check-up will ensure that car owners have safe and hassle free long haul journeys during the monsoons.

Skoda Readying Yeti Facelift For India: Spy-Shots

Skoda Yeti, not the big-selling SUV, is reported of getting a facelift in India soon.

It remains an undaunted fact Skoda unveiled the Yeti facelift at Delhi Auto Expo 2014 earlier this year. Czech originated carmaker seems to be readying India-spec version as spotted testing the facelifted SUV in the country – minus camouflages.

Yeti facelift in international market is available in two variants, a standard ‘City’ version and a more beefy ‘Outdoor’ version. The one which was unveiled at Auto Expo was the Outdoor version and the spy-shot taken is also of the same.

The changes happened to be seen on the Yeti facelift are more sophisticated on frontal attire as attained by a wider grille, more angular headlights and a different front bumper. Thankfully, the round hounded fog lamps are gone from the package which earlier was taking away all the glam-sham of the product. From the rear, Yeti looks sharper with revised tail gate and tail lights adorned with slight distinctive glasshouse.

Possibly, there are also certain rumours of the new Skoda SUV to be having a 1.4-litre TSI turbo-petrol motor in the future.

Hence, the newness pinches the pocket harder with no exception to Yeti facelift. A price hike of 7-8 percent can be speculated. Hope so, Rs 15.5-19 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) will be the bracket.

Skoda in order to serve the purpose of World Environment Day, Skoda Auto India in association with SIAM announces “Free Pollution Check” program on June 5th 2014.

The main aim of this initiative was to spread awareness on environment. This initiative by Skoda India substantiates company’s commitment towards the society and the environment.

Skoda Octavia Spy Shots Of The Facelift

Although it was unveiled in 2012 at Skoda’s Museum in Mlada Boleslav, the 3rd generation Octavia is preparing for its mid cycle aesthetic redesign. The facelift model is slated to arrive in European showrooms at some point next year. spotted undergoing cold weather and high altitude testing, the prototype captured on film isn’t as revealing as we would have liked. But in spite of the heavy camouflage wrap, we identified a couple of visual differences over the outgoing model.

First of all, there’s the front bumper. At first sight, you would think it looks like the one fitted to the current model, but take a closer look at the sides. See those edgy rectangular foglamp surrounds resembling the ones adorning the outgoing Audi A4 saloon? That’s one of the visual changes! The rear bumper seems to have been mildly redesigned too. It appears that it’s slightly more prominent and decorated with less angular motifs unlike the bumper fitted to 2013 Octavia. Also, the red reflective tape strips seem to have been removed altogether.

Still no news about the likely technological upgrades that the Czech Republic automaker could propose with the launch of the facelift! Debut of engines would be plausible to date, in addition to a comprehensive renovation of the interior, particularly from the technical point of view, with the New Skoda Octavia which could debut the latest version of the infotainment/entertainment systems of the Volkswagen Group.
