Ashok Leyland Bags $23.3mn Bus Order from Bangladesh

Ashok Leyland, a flagship company of the Hinduja Group recently won a $23.3mn order for supplying around 290 completely built double-decker buses to the Road Transport Corporation of Bangladesh. According to the company, this will be their largest single order received.

The managing director of the company, Vinod Dasari, said that Bangladesh is an important market for their company. Because of their focus on this rapidly growing market, they were able to secure their company as the second largest company dealing in the commercial vehicle segment of the country.


An agreement was signed by the Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation and Ashok Leyland recently. The company also said that back in 2010-11, the exports of the company increased by 72% touching 10,306 units, with most of the significant contribution coming from Bangladesh. In the last couple of years, above 9,500 units were exported to this country.
