BharatBenz truck production begins: First vehicle rolls out of the assembly line

German multinational automaker, Daimler AG, have finally stepped into production of commercial vehicles in the country. The automaker made it to the production level with the trademark of BharatBenz Trucks. The production of BharatBenz trucks startedfrom June 21stJune at company’s only plant in India as of now, inOragadam near Chennai. The first commercial vehicle to be rolled out from the assembly line stood up to the expectations of being on time and within budget. It was the 2523R heavy duty truck- BharatBenz Job One that rolled out of the assembly line.

BharatBenz was officially launched in the first half of 2011 in India, which was followed by inauguration of the company’s Oragadam plant at the starting of second quarter in 2012. As per company officials, company’s commercial vehicles are scheduled to hit the market in September, 2012. The company seems to be all set to make their products hit the market by the end of third quarter of the year, as the company is being reported to have signed 70 dealers across the nation.

The brand has been exclusively created for the Indian market, and is expected to roll out 17 models in the next couple of years, ranging from 6 to 49 tons GVW.  The debuting heavy duty truck, 2523R, has a capacity of 25 tons and is capable of churning out power of 230 bhp. The 2523R has been set on the Mercedes Benz Axor platform, while ensuring world class performance, fuel efficiency and reliability at the same time. Reliability on the product has been kept at the first place, as it’s the reliance on its products that has taken Daimler to the height of success it is enjoying now.

In his speech during the production event of BharatBenz, Mr. Marc Llistostella (CEO and MD of Daimler India Commercial Vehicles) seemed optimistic as he said that high performance delivery by the company’s German and Indian employees will take the success of the company to a newer level. He added that the day has set another milestone for the company, as few weeks earlier, company made it official that their project is well underway. Completion of the project well on time and in budget always counts as it is seems to be happening for the company right now. Mr. Llistostella was spotted laying emphasis on hopes of revolutionizing Indian roads with BhartBenz Trucks’ state-of-art.
