BMW M3 Completes Homologation Processes In India

If reports are to be believed, the next-gen BMW M3 has completed homologation processes for its launch in India. Although no official word from the automaker, Philip Von Sahr, President at BMW India said that 2014 will be the year of launch for ‘M’ models. While BMW has been rather stingy with their high performance units, the introduction of M6 Gran Coupe signaled the changing scenes for the Indian market. With the introduction of Fiat Abarth 500 and high performance Audi RS7, the automakers are slowly recognizing India as a prime market for sportscars.

The BMW M3: a 4-door, high-performance sportscar. The M TwinPower Turbo straight six-cylinder petrol powerplant delivers outstanding performance across the entire rev range. Innovations taken directly from motor sport like the Adaptive M suspension, Active M differential, seven-speed M double-clutch transmission with Drivelogic and M Servotronic redefine the limits of possibility. The interior is an epitome of perfect ergonomics. The new M seats with their shell-like form offer side stability and create a flawless connection to the vehicle. Everything is orientated towards one thing: the driver!

The M TwinPower 3.0 liter Turbo straight 6-cylinder engine offers drivers the best of both worlds: superior power with a maximum of 550 Nm torque and high rev characteristics with up to 7600 rpm. The 431hp engine accelerates from 0 to 100km/h in just 4.1 seconds. Bi-Turbo direct fuel injection and M fine-tuning ensure that the engine responds directly to the slightest touch of the accelerator with excellent torque and tremendous boost.

With its extra oil drain pump and oil sump cover and motor sport-suitable cooling concept, the M engine is ready to take on any challenge. A number of innovations such as a lighter, forged crankshaft and sleeveless construction enhance acceleration and dynamics, continue the intelligent lightweight concept, allow an optimal weight distribution of almost 50:50 and lower fuel consumption. The reward: unprecedentedly agile driving accentuated by the unmistakable sound of M engine.
