Chevrolet gets ready to bring in new cars to the Indian automobile market

After the 2012 International Auto Expo of New Delhi, the line-up of General Motors was the major topic of talk among the auto critics and experts. The firm came ahead with the launch of its Tavera SUV variant, which has a common-rail diesel engine with a very low profile. But now it looks like the firm has been waiting for the right moment to launch its much anticipated hatchback, Chevrolet Sail. This particular elegant launch will be later followed by the consecutive launch of Chevrolet’s MPV Enjoy and the sedan version of Sail. In the Indian automobile market the Chevrolet Aveo U-VA will be replaced by the Chevrolet Sail hatchback while the Aveo sedan of Chevrolet will be replaced by the Sail sedan. Chevrolet Sail hatchback is scheduled to be launched sometime in the middle of this year 2012, may be in the months of June and July. While the anticipated time for the launch of Chevrolet Sail sedan is somewhere close towards the last three months of the present year.

The Chevrolet Sail sedan will be powered by a 1.4 liter petrol engine. It will also be coming in a diesel variant which will be equipped with a MultiJet 1.3 liter engine. The same petrol engine of 1.4 litermay also power the Chevrolet Enjoy MPV, while the MultiJet diesel engine is being utilized in the various vehicles of different auto manufacturing firms like the Maruti Suzuki India, Tata Motors and Fiat India. The diesel Multijet engine was developed in the previous decade in a joint collaboration between General Motors and Fiat. This diesel Multijet engine will sit beneath the bonnet of Chevrolet Sail hatchback and power it up, at the same time a petrol engine of 1.2 liter will be available as an option in this hatchback model which will pump out 80 bhp of power.

These engines are being assembled at the Talegaon facility of General Motor’s powertrain assembly line, which is situated in the state of Maharashtra. The firm has a very good reputation among its customers and also has a great volume of fan followers who dream to own one of the cars manufactured by General Motors. The hatchback and sedan of the firm will be making its way into the Indian automobile market as soon as the middle of this very year as has been mentioned above. However, by that time many more car manufacturing firms will also have their vehicles launched and running on the roads of India. And with the constant rising price of petrol, the diesel variants of vehicle will be preferred. This makes the price of these vehicles a very significant issue in terms of good sales point-of-view as these cars sit on the very same base as the Aveo, which could not get itself a good sales volume.
