India’s first sports car is staking its own sweet time to launch. Unveiled at the Delhi Auto Expo 2012, and once again seen at the Auto Expo 2014, its testing schedule had already started as per the spy-shots, and now the new set of spy images claimed Avanti to have entered production bay.

According to the source from where this image is garnered, the production-spec Avanti are lined-up at the assembly line, where some of them were also used for the Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI) testing.

Comparing the concept and the production version, limited numbers of changes are made to the interior, frame and aerodynamics. Under the hoods it rests with a 2-liter Ford EcoBoost engine that produces 250 hp and 360 Nm of torque, mated to a 6-speed manual transmission.

DC Avanti attains the 0-100 km/h sprint in 6 seconds and can reach a top speed of 180 kmph. It weighs 1,580 kg and employs a ground clearance of 170 mm, sufficient enough to handle speed bumps.

Price tag of DC Avanti is about to lug near the Rs 25-30 lakh bracket. Technically and cosmetically, the DC Avanti is not in the league of some renowned sports car, but it is sufficed enough to give a good enthralling experience for the amount of money asked.
