A rare Ferrari is always greeted over the rest. At the third edition of the annual gathering of Ferrari owners called as ‘Ferrari Cavalcade’ (2014) the Italian carmaker made a public debut of the F12 TRS, a one-off custom design.
The car is based on the F12berlinetta and is developed at a client’s request as an extreme, two-seater, open-top sports barchetta. Inspirations from 1957 250 Testa Rossa was considered for it. The F12 TRS is Flavio Manzoni and the Ferrari Style Centre team’s modern, innovative take on that legendary car’s spirit and paid homage to it in its moniker.
Technicalities are lifted from the F12berlinetta including 0-100 km/h acceleration in 3.1 s and 0-200 km/h acceleration in 8.1 seconds, thanks to the massive 740 cv and maximum torque of 690 Nm at 9,000 rpm unleashed by its 6262 cm3 V12 engine.
On the cosmetic front, the car is done with the typically sharp Ferrari nose and wraparound windscreen that forms a long dark band of glass in contrast to the car’s body. Owing to the aspirations from front-engined Ferrari sports cars of the 1950s, V12 engine’s signature red cylinder heads are made visible through a window in the engine lid. The aerobridge, introduced on the F12berlinetta, has been given a new treatment in this car, resulting in a sculptural design that runs back from the flanks along the entire length of the car.
The other side of the car, we mean inside the cabin, it comes loaded with the finest materials like black matt carbon-fibre, leather and Alcantara but misses out on most of the luxuries. Terming the cabin in one word, it has the “bare-basic” of all. The dropped-down appetizers that this Ferrari is done without are glove compartment, central air vents, mats, audio system, window controls and odds-and-ends holders. Even the controls for the likes of the air conditioning have been cut back.
