Recent reports suggest that American automaker Cardillac is pulling its socks up produce an all-new flagship sedan. If inside scoops are to be believed, the automaker’s parent company, General Motors, has accepted the move to counteract German luxury car makers in a few more segments. Rumors are running rampant in the market that the car will get propelled on a rear-wheel drive chassis to attract the followers of BMW 7 Series towards itself. 2015 is expected to be the time when the car will be debuted as it would be more competitive for the BMW then.

In fact General Motors’ efforts by adding the Cardillac ATS and XTS justifies its efforts to reposition the brand stable better to engage German luxury automobile giants like BMW and Mercedes-Benz. The next model that is being expected to join the Cardillac-league next year is the much larger CTS, which can in fact compete with the BMW 5 Series quite efficiently.

On the other hand, no one knows where this new flagship will be placed in the entire lineup. Word is, the car will be placed on a new Omega platform and will acquire design elements from the appealing Cardillac Ciel Concept. The concept was earlier unveiled at the Pebble Beach.

When it comes to the specs under the bonnet of the car, it will probably be featuring a 3.6L V6 and V8 engine. The engines will be coupled with an eight-speed automatic transmission to give something what we actually call a ‘drive’.

Apart from these, there is news that has been reported specifying a new large crossover. If the news is to be followed then the car on the horizon will make use of the base for the Chevrolet Traverse, Buick Enclave and GMC Acadia; Lambda platform.
