Honda India, the Indian division of well known Japanese car manufacturer, has become the 4th biggest car manufacturer in India.

The reports said that the freshly rolled out vehicle, Amaze sedan, has donned a key role and assisted the company to register this hefty sale figures during May 2013.

During the month under review, the auto manufacturer posted its highest monthly sale facts ever as the sales numbers of the recently launched vehicle remained at 6,036 vehicle units, which made up around 50% deliveries of the car maker.

Overall, the company sell 11,342 vehicle units in the month of May 2013, more than the sales numbers of its key rivals Ford (4,002 vehicle units), Toyota (10,023 vehicle units), Tata Motors (11,134 vehicle units) as well as GM (8,500 vehicle units).

Under the review of April’s sales figures, the demand for Honda cars increased by 34 per cent in May. In comparison with the sales of May 2012, this time the auto maker recorded a growth of 10 per cent. On the other hand, the domestic sales of country’s largest auto maker, Maruti Suzuki India Limited, dipped by 13 per cent at 77,821 units on year-on-year basis.

The U.S. car manufacturer Ford and Japanese giant Toyota saw a declination of over 30% in sale numbers as compared to the same period of 2012.

The report added that the awe-inspiring foray of Honda Amaze has apparently hit the supremacy of auto giant Maruti Suzuki the most.

Interestingly, Amaze happens to be the first diesel model of Honda in the domestic zone that straightforwardly squares off in opposition to the likes of Maruti Suzuki DZire. The cutthroat valuation of the vehicle and its tag line stating, ‘most cost-effective’ drove the outlooks of purchasers away from the most popular car, Maruti DZire.
