Lamborghini Aventador Roadster Revealed

Lamborghini has just revealed its new Aventador LP700-4 Roadster, which is a 690bhp V12 open top hypercar. The company claims that it is the “most exciting Lamborghini ever built.”

The Aventador supports a Targa-style two piece carbon fiber rooftop, which weighs incredibly low at just 6 kgs. The company claims that the roof can be removed by hand in just few seconds and can be stored easily in the luggage compartment. The roof is made by use of Lamborghini’s own Forged Composite technology that creates materials that are stronger than titanium but are less dense.

The hard-top installed on the Aventador, solves the problem faced by the Murcielago. Whose top speed was restricted to about 160 Kmph due to its raised fabric roof. Also the roof was quite tricky to remove and store.

Same as the coupe version, the Aventador Roadster also uses the same normally aspirated 6.5 litre V12 engine with cylinder deactivation technology, start-stop button and seven-speed auto gearbox.

With the stronger roof, the roadster can achieve a top speed of about 350 kmph and can reach from 0 to 100 kmph in just 3.0 seconds. Lamborghini claims that the roof is easy to handle and simple to attach and can be stored easily in the front luggage compartment.

The vehicle has also received two aerodynamic updates, a rear windscreen control that manages the airflow over the car and amount of noise that passengers can hear from the roof. It also supports a detachable wind deflector at the top of the front windscreen, which delivers almost complete noiseless experience in the cabin when the roof is removed.

The new roof has also initiated some design changes over the coupe, for example the rear pillar has be redesigned to provide the car with more strength even when the roof is removed. These new pillars also provide extra ventilation to the engine and protection from the rollover.

The Roadster’s engine cover has also experienced a change over the coupe; it now supports a spinal column with two hexagonal lines of windows. The scissor doors also get chamfered edges to provide flush finish for the frameless windows into the roof.

The body work of the roadster also gets a two tone finish to make it look distinct and different from the coupe. Gloss black is being used for the rear window, roof and pillars. A new color called as Azzuro Thetis is inspired by the 1968 Miura Roadster is also offered with the new roadster.

The 21 inches alloys at the rear wheel and 20 inches in the front reduces the curb weight by over 10 kgs are also available only with the roadster version.
