Traffic-jams are the worst things that happen to a driver. After various attempts to ease up the traffics and such, it doesn’t seem to help a lot. Though, there is a need to find a serious solution at the near future. But for the present, TomTom, Amsterdam-based traffic and navigation service company, had announced a list of most traffic-jammed cities in the world, which the drivers shall move out of them if they think the traffic-jams shall not a part of their life!

The survey conducted is based on the results gotten with the comparison of travel times during non-jammed hours against those in peak hours experienced by passenger vehicles. Tagged on that said experience, the Moscow, Russia, ranks on the top of the list with the 74% of index. The index indicates, a driver in the Russian capital has to manage through an average delay of 76 minutes per hour driven during peak travel times. So a trip that might be concluded in 60 minutes otherwise, will usurp over two hours during rush hour.

As per to a general survey, drivers around the globe spend an average of eight days of their lives stuck in traffic jams each year. Interestingly, the survey also shows traffic on secondary roads can actually be even more congested than on major streets. So, ultimately, those who are still curious about the traffic jams then shall avoid these mentioned below top 10 most congested cities in the world:

  • Moscow, Russia: 74%
  • Istanbul, Turkey: 62%
  • Rio de Janeiro, Brazil: 55%
  • Mexico City, Mexico: 54%
  • São Paulo, Brazil: 46%
  • Palermo, Italy: 39%
  • Warsaw, Poland: 39%
  • Rome, Italy: 37%
  • Los Angeles, USA: 36%
  • Dublin, Ireland: 35%

TomTom CEO Harold Goddijn comments that “the traditional responses to congestion, such as building new roads or widening existing ones are no longer proving to be effective”.
