Maserati Alfieri Concept Unveiled at Geneva Motor Show 2014

Geneva had melted the ice of Swiss Alps with the Italians unveiling their latest Alfieri concept, which is supposed to be a two-seater sports car. This time the Modena based carmaker has gone beyond conventional, and previewed its metal with the six-slatted front grille with the brand’s logo flamed in between, in true Italian style.

However, the rivalries of Alfieri will be carried in between Porsche Cayman, Porsche 911, Jaguar F-type coupe and their likes. It too can be taken on a stand that, this upcoming Maserati may replace the Maserati Granturismo.

Engine specifications may not be confirmed yet, as the car is still in conceptual stage. But the reports from industry have kept suggesting V6 and V8 powertrains, glazing around 450bhp and 550bhp respectively to be doing their job under hoods. Four-wheel drive traction will likely be optional on this for some exceptional Maserati markets.

Further the sources claimed, Alfieri to be weighing 1400kgs in production. Certain claims made by the same sources said, the upcoming Italian sportscar to be using the same platform of Alfa Romeo 4C. If that would prove right, then this concept will be a mid-engined product.

The concept’s name refers to Alfieri Maserati, one of the brothers who founded the company.

So keep the fingers crossed!
