Mercedes Benz Concept Coupe SUV Revealed

Mercedes will show a slant back SUV Coupe Concept at the Beijing Motor Show, and will be creatively known as Mercedes Benz Concept Coupe SUV. There will be pent up demand for the new MLC-Class when the swoopy large sports utility vehicle arrives in showrooms. The all-new Coupe SUV is a direct shot at the BMW X6, a vehicle which doesn’t really need to exist in the first place. But because the Bavarian automaker has proliferated into every single niche, even ones, which didn’t exist before, Mercedes and soon Audi will need to compete in all of them.

In spite of its GLA looks, the Mercedes Benz Concept Coupe SUV will be significantly larger, expected to measure at least five meters from nose to tail and two meters wide. The MLC production vehicle will sit above the ML in company’s global lineup from next year, mirroring BMW’s strategy with its X5 and X6 models. So that’s 205 for a small Mercedes Benz squished SUV. As with Audi Concept, it is difficult to tell what size it is; however we are guessing it’s based on the A-Class platform (which underpins GLA and CLA too), allowing fitment, of course of the 4-wheel drive system as seen in A45 AMG.

Dr. Zetsche said “With the Concept Coupe SUV, we aim to secure new customers by opening up new segments for Mercedes Benz, meaning we are guessing, China. We will have more info when we see the vehicle at Beijing Auto Show, but for now, do you reckon a mini SUV coupe could be a winner for Mercedes?”
