Renault is all geared up to officially launch its Duster SUV in India on July 4th 2012. The Indian version of the Duster will be quite different from what Renault displayed at the Auto Expo earlier this year.
The Indian version gets the black finish at the lower part of the front bumper, as opposed to the body color we saw at the Expo. Renault Duster is a complete SUV with vigorous 4×4 features. Despite being a compact SUV, Duster can negotiate any terrain. The SUV is built on the Nissan B0 platform. Duster was tested extensively in all terrain before it appeared in public back in 2010. The Duster will be available in both 4×2 and 4×4 variants. The suspension system and underside has been strengthened to handle any off-road and rugged terrain.
Duster has inherited the four wheel drive system from Nissan and it allows the driver to adjust the transmission as per the power requirement and road conditions. Among the other features, Renault Duster is expected to feature Anti-lock braking system, stability control module and emergency brake assist along with the electronic brakeforce distribution. It also comes with two front air bags and 3-point seatbelt tensors depending upon the variant.
The duster will be available in eight versions which will also include the base 1.6 litre petrol priced at Rs.7.2 lakhs and a 1.5 litre diesel engine version. The diesel engine will be available in two variants – one an entry level 84 bhp version and another at the top of the line with 108.5 bhp.
The Renault Duster will be priced in the range of Rs.7.2 to 12 lakh and will be available across all Renault dealerships in India.
