Renault Nissan Alliance Sells 100,000th EV

Delivered the first Nissan Leaf in December 2010, after the gap of two years and seven months the Renault-Nissan alliance had succeeded in selling the 100,000 EVs till date. The last number i.e. 100,000th is recently delivered to American graduate student Allison Howard.

The current repertoire of organization now holds two of all-electric vehicles named as Nissan Leaf and Renault ZOE. The Japanese car sold in more than 71,000 units, making it the world’s best-selling EV, Renault delivered about 30,000 electric vehicles, including the Kangoo Van Z.E., Twizy, Fluence Z.E. and the ZOE. Renault’s best-selling EV is the Twizy with about 11,000 examples sold since early 2012.

“The age of the mainstream zero-emission vehicle is here,” said Renault-Nissan Alliance Chairman and CEO Carlos Ghosn. “We expect demand to keep growing as the charging infrastructure develops – and we remain 100% committed to zero-emission technology for the long term.”

Meanwhile to conclude, the below mentioned statistics are the terminologies that Renault-Nissan alliance used to sell their EVs in December 2010:

  1. Electric cars from Renault and Nissan have driven over 841 million kilometers which is enough to circle the earth 20,000 times.
  2. 53 million liters of oil was saved thanks to these vehicles.
  3. 124 million kg of CO2 have not been emitted.
