Scania Launches Intercity Metrolink Coaches for India

India is now in hitlist of every automaker in the world and Scania is one such example of it. It is already present in India since 2007 in collaboration with L&T as rolling out some luxury HCVs, throwing leisure to those hard working men who push all their effort in logistics and other developments.

Tata is ruling India with its deep engraved roots in various sectors ranging from city coaches to extreme mining trucks for masses. Though this Indian vehicles cost very less, but there are international manufacturers who cruises with some heavily loaded luxuries at a premium pricing. After all they are very well accepted, as Volvo, Mercedes Benz, Navistar and Scania are some of the names which can be seen running successfully on our highways.

Scania launches Metrolink

These products are named as Scania Metrolink HD 12.0 m, 13.7 m and 14.5 m. All these coaches come with 8 – speed fully automatic Scania Opticruise gearbox to yield maximum mileage, unmatched comfort level and a long trouble service life, as promised by the brand.

T type motif can be experienced, starting from window line and flowing to all the sides. Prices will be declared tomorrow and customer deliveries will begin in mid 2013. The Bengaluru manfucturing unit of the Swedish badge worth 250 crore INR is still under construction and will resume production by early 2014. Till then, product dispatching will be made through imported CBU units, manufactured at a reputed Scania supervised plant.

It seems to be the emerging winner of whole coach fraternity, as produced under the total Scania quality. In short, chassis and body both will be solely manufctured by automaker itself. This was lacking to an extent with Mercedes Benz and Volvo, which is a very crucial factor.

Mr. Anders Grundstormer, new MD of Scania CVs India and Sr. VP Scania Group was very much excited with the Indian response. He also added that the present local market of luxury HCVs is now at 1000 units per year which will grow to 5000 in the next year. Continuing with some more exclamations he said, India is a whole potential in itself which can emerge as a complete region for Scania, without including other international boundaries.
