Scania Metrolink Coaches Delivered To Parveen Travels In Chennai

Reportedly, Scania Commercial Vehicles India delivered the first Scania Metrolink coaches to Parveen Travels in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. Mr. Anders Grundströmer, Managing Director, Scania India and Senior Vice President, Scania Group, and Mr. A. Afzal, Managing Director, Parveen Travels and President of Tamil Nadu Omni Bus Operators Association, were present during the occasion.

Speaking at the press conference, Mr. Anders Grundströmer, Managing Director, Scania India and Senior Vice President said, “This is our first Scania Metrolink handover in Chennai and we are very pleased to be associated with Parveen Travels, who are known to be front runners in customer service. Scania Metrolink is specially designed for Indian conditions and is set to upgrade intercity transportation system to a completely new level of luxury and safety. Passengers will get to experience ultra luxury features and comfort, coupled with top notch safety provisions. Scania Metrolink comes with superior Total Operating Economy that will boost fuel savings significantly, which in turn will keep the CO2 emission low.”

Parveen Travels is headquartered in Chennai, will operate the bus between Chennai and Kochi. Parveen Travels is the single largest fleet operator with an ISO certificate in Tamil Nadu.

Mr. Grundströmer also inaugurated state-of-the-art workshop of SDR Auto Pvt. Ltd. in Chennai. SDR Pvt. Ltd. is the authorised dealer for Scania on-road trucks and buses, sales and service in Tamil Nadu.

Launched in February 2013, the Scania Metrolink range introduces highly reliable multi-purpose luxury coaches for medium and long distance travel in the Indian market. The buses are already present in other states such as Maharashtra, Karnataka and Kerala.

Scania had loaded the Metrolink buses with best in class safety features such as black box, speed limit of 85 km/h, six emergency doors with twelve hammers, motion detection camera to monitor driver movements and flight like safety video to educate passengers on Do’s and Don’ts at the time of emergency.

Scania is establishing a complete service and dealership network in the country, starting from the Southern states and will expand to other geographies. In addition to the dealer outlets, Scania is also investing in service vans to guarantee service support to customers within two hours of fault reporting. Understanding the vital role that drivers play, Scania offers a complete driver training programme. A well trained driver can bring about huge impact in terms of operating economy, safety and acting at the time of emergency. Other additional service that Scania offers is online Fleet Management Service (FMS).
