Skoda Superb Ambition Introduced at Rs. 18 lakhs

The completely owned subsidiary of Czech carmaker Skoda Auto, Skoda Auto India has introduced a new base trim level of its Superb, the Superb Ambition. With the introduction of this new entry level saloon, it has now expanded the accessibility of Superb lineup for its customers. Though, Ambition is launched as an entry level variant, Skoda has integrated world class comfort, efficiency and safety features of Superb in it.

Considering its technological specs, Skoda Auto India has introduced both diesel as well as petrol variants of Ambition to the market. The Ambition’s petrol variant gets a 1.8 litre turbocharged TSI powerplant, which is good for pulsating 158 horsepower at 4500 – 6200 rpm with 250 newton meters of torque at 1500 – 4500 rpm. The engine is equipped with direct injection technology and inline liquid cooling system. To further enhance the performance of this engine, it is mated to a fully synchronized six speed manual transmission, which is quite smooth and responsive. Along with brilliant emissions, the Superb Ambition’s engine also provides a decent fuel economy of 13.1 kilometers per litre that’s quite accepted in this class.

In contrast, the diesel variant of Skoda Superb Ambition gains a 2.0 litre turbocharged TDI CR powerplant that pumps out 138 horsepower at 4200 rpm with 320 newton meters of torque at 1750 – 2500 rpm. This powerplant is teamed up with six-speed DSG automatic gearbox with Tiptronic manual gear changing system. The performance tuned diesel engine is bound to deliver impressive fuel economy, covering a distance of 17.2 kilometers per litre.

The Superb Ambition’s exterior design has a number of enhancements, which allow the vehicle to mark its presence on roads. Its exterior package is identical to the Elegance version, however flaunts a distinctive design of alloys. Additionally, the cockpits are slathered with ivory NAPA leather package with lounge step, retractable screens for rear windows and wood decorations along with rear windscreen. In order to provide a comfortable drive to its passengers, the company has integrated various luxurious features within the vehicle, including electronically foldable mirrors, 12 way adjustable front seats and dual zone climatronic function.

Standard safety features on Skoda Superb Ambition include corner function, 8 airbags, Anti lock Braking System (ABS) and auto dimming interior and external mirrors. With these, Skoda has also equipped advanced safety features like Hydraulic Brake Assist (HBA), Electronic Break-force Distribution (EBD), Anti Slip Regulation (ASR), Electronic Differential Lock (EDL) and Traction Control System (TCS).

Addressing the introduction of Ambition trim level, Mr. Kamal Basu, Head of Marketing at Skoda Auto India stated that with the introduction of Ambition, they are now extending the lineup with greater accessibility while maintaining class values in safety, efficacy and comfort of Superb. This trim level will be further consolidating its dominating position in the class and open the doors of opulence, for an uncompromising customer seeking excellence at a great price.

The Ambition’s petrol version is available for the price of Rs. 18 lakhs, while the diesel for Rs. 22.5 lakhs. Alternatively, Ambition’s ex-showroom prices in Maharashtra are placed at Rs. 22,07,727 for the diesel variant and Rs. 17,66,232 for petrol.

Instead of seeking the attention of auto enthusiasts, the company has offered its Ambition variant in a plenty of appealing shades, which include Amethyst royal, Candy White, Magic black and Rosso brunello.
