Subaru launches a special edition WRX STI

WRX is a common name given to Subaru Impreza. Currently, the third generation of Impreza is in the market while the fourth generation is on its way. Before the departure of the 3rd gen from the market, Subaru brought a limited edition variant of the WRX. This model is called WRX STI tS Type RA and this model will be made available only in the Japanese market.

Subaru is one of the divisions of Fuji Heavy Industries. This automaking firm was established in the year 1953. It uses a boxer engine layout in all its 1500cc and above vehicles. Since 1972, it started using all wheel drive in its mid sized and small cars. In 2011, Subaru was ranked as the 26th largest auto company in the world. Toyota Motors Corporation have a 16.5% ownership in Fuji Heavy Industries.

Subaru launched Impreza, a compact car, in the year 1992. The initial version received a boxer engine offering a capacity of 1.2 liters to 2.5 liters while the later versions were equipped with turbo chargers. So far three generations of Impreza have entered the market. The higher powered versions of Impreza started going by the name of Impreza WRX. The third generation of Impreza entered the market in the year 2011.

2013 Subaru WRX STI
This new edition gives a racer version of WRX STI. This car offers some seriously fast laps times. To offer a great racing experience, the car gets stronger suspensions, dampers and coils, specially designed Brembo brakes. The car has Bridgestone Potenza all-alloy tyres with a diameter of 18 inches.

The car is available in various color schemes including Pearl white, Blue Mica and Tangerine orange pearl. The steering wheel has a leather edging while the body has various specially designed badges.

The WRX STI tS Type RA is powered by a 4 cylinder, 2 litre engine similar to the original Impreza. The car offers a 4 wheel drive with a maximum output of 310 PS. There is a 6 speed manual gear box.

Only 300 of this exclusive model will be launched. Subaru will start taking orders from August this year. The car will cost around 4.41 million Yen to 5.02 million Yen. This approximately 26 lac to 30 lac rupees.
