With the automobile products coming in the market with low shelf life, it has become a necessity for the car producers to renovate the products to revive their lost sales. On an annual basis the car manufacturing companies bring in a refreshed version of their existing models to come at par with their competitors. Maruti Suzuki seems to be doing the same with its existing Swift Dzire, which it has facelifted and presented in the month of February as ‘Swift Dzire Tour‘ for commercial taxi operations. This will be available in both the fuel base variants, the petrol variant will be Lxi and diesel variant will be LDi. The Petrol variant has been priced at Rs.4.88 lakh and the diesel variant is priced at Rs.5.91 lakh.

With the launch of the new Swift Dzire Tour the question immediately pops up for the earlier version’s future.  Maruti intends to direct the Swift Dzire into the taxi segment as well. The new Dzire Tour will come with the usual features like AC, power steering wheels, exterior side view mirrors, front and rear bumpers and with a tiny change in the handles of the doors  which are black now.

The popular Indica and Indigo by Tata Motors did quite well in the taxi segment of India whereas Toyota Etios literally rules now in the luxury taxi segment in many metro cities. Swift Dzire was one of the dominating brands in this segment along with Ford Fiesta, Hyundai Accent and Mahindra Logan till Etios entered this February. The reason which made Toyota Etios instantly popular is the fuel economy, leg room anddependability in terms of adequate after sales services. Although, if we look at the after sales service of Maruti Suzuki, it is the most reliable brand with its numerous service centers. Even if we compare the price we will find that Toyota Etios Petrol sells at Rs. 6.69 lakh and its diesel variant sells for Rs. 5.14 lakh, while Mahindra Verito Petrol sells for Rs 5.97 lakh and the diesel variant sells for Rs 5.04 lakh. With the competitive price this model is being offered at, it’s still lower than what the other brand models are being offer in this particular commercial car segment. Pricewise the petrol variant is the lowest in its category, the price of the LDi diesel variant will be approximately close to Tata Indigo XL.
