Toyota to use its Etios car range to start a racing series in India

Continuous speculations have been going on that from 2012 onwards, Toyota is making plans to feature in Indian Motorsports with a single make series. While wishing its customers on the occasion of the New Year, Toyota has also come out with a teaser. The teaser makes a reference to the Motor Racing range of its Etios car. Although the car maker from Japan has not yet provided detailed information regarding the same, it is being expected that the company is going to unveil this series at the upcoming 2012 Delhi Auto Expo. The advertisement that has been displayed highlights both the hatchback and sedan models of the Etios. People are, however, waiting to see whether it is the Liva Hatchback or the Etios sedan that the car maker is going use for this series.

This is going to make Toyota only the second car maker after Volkswagen (which is already present with its Polo Cup) to make an entry into the Indian motorsports arena. It is expected that the races are going to be conducted in all three racing tracks that India has – Greater Noida’s Buddh International Circuit, Madras Motor Racing Track in Chennai and the Kari Speedway at Coimbatore.
