Volkswagen Polo GT Legend Edition Launched | Quick Review |

Volkswagen India has launched the Volkswagen Polo GT Legend Edition and we tell you all about it.

Volkswagen entered the Indian automotive Industry back in 2009 with their hatchback Polo. At the time it was way ahead of its rivals in terms of build quality and driving experience. It was considered a premium hatchback over its rivals, as it was the first made-in-India hatchback to be offered with dual airbags and a 4-Star safety rating.

The Polo was the best combination of safety, fuel efficiency, and reliability, which made it popular amongst us Indians. Polo has always been associated with terms like ‘hot hatch’ or the ‘enthusiast’s hatch’.

To increase the popularity of Polo amongst young enthusiasts, Volkswagen launched the GT variants in India.

The Polo GT TSi came with petrol and diesel engines. However, the diesel engine was later discontinued from the GT lineup. The petrol offering was a 1.2L three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine which was paired with a DSG gearbox. The diesel GT was offered with a 1.6L turbocharged diesel engine, which was widely popular for its torquey driving experience. The diesel was however only offered with a manual gearbox.

Volkswagen Polo has now officially completed 12 years in the Indian market and the brand has decided to pull the plug on the production of this generation of Polo. Hence, the brand bids farewell to Polo with the Legend Edition, giving the enthusiast one last taste of the hot hatch.

The Legend Edition is available with the GT TSi variant, which is powered by the 1.0L turbocharged petrol engine, which is paired to a 6-Speed torque converter automatic gearbox, instead of the DSG. This engine produces 110 HP & 175 Nm of torque.

The Volkswagen Polo GT Legend Edition features special design elements like the ‘Legend’ badge on the fender and boot. It will also come with side body graphics, black trunk garnish, and black roof foil to accentuate the look of the carline making it sportier.

The Volkswagen Polo GT Legend Edition has been launched at Rs 10.25 Lakhs (ex-showroom) and is going to have a limited production run.
