Volkswagen unveils new SUV Concept, Taigun, and showcases WRC winning Polo R at Auto Expo 2014

Volkswagen, unveiled its new SUV concept – the Taigun – at the Auto Expo, which is being held at the Expo Mart in Greater Noida. The Taigun is fitted with a highly efficient 1.0-litre turbocharged TSI petrol engine, which produces 108 horsepower and 175Nm of torque. Further establishing its commitment to the Indian car market, Volkswagen is currently evaluating the feasibility of launching the Taigun in India in the near future.

Also showcased at the Volkswagen pavilion is the World Rally Championship winning Polo R WRC. The Polo R WRC put up a magnificent performance last year, with French driver Sebastien Ogier and co-driver Julien Ingrassia winning the 2013 World Rally Championship. Powered by a 1.6-litre turbocharged TSI petrol engine, which produces more than 300 horsepower, the Polo R WRC is a technological tour-de-forceand is one of the finest competition machines to ever emerge from Germany in recent times.

In addition to the Taigun and Polo R WRC, Volkswagen also displayed its full India line-up of cars, including all Polo and Vento variants, the Jetta, and the Passat, at the Auto Expo.
