Enough of calling the all new SUV from Mahindra as W201. This was just the code name given to it and Mahindra have officially put forth the name of the new SUV as XUV500, which is pronounced as XUV ‘5 double Oh’. A transverse engine as also a monocoque chassis is what this new SUV promises and its got the “first” of its kind tag from the Mahindra stables as well. The manufacturing of this SUV has been done in a truly global fashion and the spy images floating around on the web are testimony enough of that. This vehicle is expected to catapult M&M to the global SUV banner.
This SUV is supposed to be launched in the later half of this month and prices are expected to be around the Rs 12-16 lakhs mark depending on the variants. M&M would launch this car in both the 2WD as also the 4WD options. Chakan in Pune would be the place where this SUV would be manufactured. South Africa would be another place where this SUV would be manufactured at a later stage.
