2016 Mini Cooper Convertible Revealed before Tokyo

The latest convertible from the Mini stable is all set to be unveiled at the 2016 Tokyo Motor show and in order to build up to the grand launch, the company has released pictures of the car. The new Mini Cooper Convertible looks great from its new images and has a fully electric roof as well as an advanced rollover protection system which helps keep occupants safe by detecting possible rollovers.

The car will be powered by a 1.2-litre petrol engine or a 1.5-liter diesel variant. The engines will come mated to a six speed gearbox to be offered in both manual and auto options. In addition to this, shift paddles have been mounted on the steering wheel in the automatic option. Traction control as well as electronic differential lock has been provided as a standard feature across models.

The car has also been increased in terms of dimensions slightly and also has an increase in terms of wheelbase. The Cooper convertible will also be heavier this time around and the top will take about 18 seconds to deploy. In addition to these features, the car will also have a 6.5 inch infotainment screen as well as a USB audio connection. The car will also have reversing camera as well as rear parking distance control.

The Mini is likely to hit showrooms in UK by March 2016 and is likely to come to India later in the year.
