The Italian automotive giant, Fiat has recently revealed midlife facelift of its popular Punto hatchback in the UK market. The new Punto has appeared with many cosmetic changes along with a new refreshed look. Despite receiving considerable changes, Fiat Punto still maintains the model’s signature stamp. The front bumper has been revitalized and coupled with brand new headlamp and fog lamps.
The new bumper provides enhanced look to the front. The rear look has also been refreshed to with a new bumper, new tail gate design and all new tail lamps. The interiors have also been given a makeover by using new materials.
Demonstrating the technical expertise of the Fiat, the new 2012 Punto is available in a wide range of engine configurations with five petrol and two diesel engines variants. The Fiat has also included its award winning TwinAir Turbo technology in the new Punto. TwinAir has already bagged awards like Engine of the Year and Best Green Engine 2011 awards. It is actually a two cylinder engine that produces the power equivalent to a four cylinder engine but derives mileage as efficient as a twin cylinder engine. It comes coupled with six speed gearbox which can operate over multiple power modes.
At normal, the engine produces a maximum of 85bhp and 145 Nm of torque, but if you use the eco mode on the dashboard then torque is reduced to 110 Nm @ 2500 rpm, helping to extract better fuel economy. There’s also another pair of 1.4 litre petrol engine with MultiAir technology that produces a maximum of 105bhp and 135bhp by using a turbocharger. The engine has been equipped with intelligence feature to act as per your needs. You can configure it to get more power or better fuel efficiency as per your requirement.
