Audi, the German luxury car manufacturer, closed yet another record month in India with a sale of 1002 units in October 2013, a growth of 17.8 percent (October 2012: 850 cars). Sales for the period January – October 2013 stood at 8393 units, a growth of 15.4 percent (January – October 2012: 7267 units).

“With this remarkable performance in the month of October, we have moved within striking distance of our goal, of becoming the first luxury car manufacturer in India to cross sales of 10,000 units in a calendar year. While the market conditions continued to be challenging, we persisted with our focus on enhancing our product offering, growing a high quality network and introducing some very innovative service and finance offerings, most of which have become benchmarks in the industry. The success of these actions is reflected clearly in our sales. Surpassing our targets month after month in a demanding economic environment bears testimony to the products, dealer partners and the team we have but most importantly this success is due to the strength of the brand and the equity it enjoys among auto enthusiasts and customers alike” said Mr. Joe King, Head, Audi India.

Audi India inaugurated new showrooms in Karnal and Vadodara in the month of October and will open two more showrooms in the month of November. The Audi Autumn Collection featuring new engines and exciting new features, introduced to celebrate the festive season was well received across India. Audi continues to be the leading luxury car brand in India and also the market leader in the luxury SUV segment and the sports car segment.

Globally Audi continued its double-digit growth rate in September with 150,300 deliveries, a year-on-year increase of 10 percent. The Audi Group delivered 1,180,748 cars in the first three quarters of 2013 ((2012: 1,097,507 cars), an increase of 7.6 percent.

Audi India plans to expand its network to 34 dealerships by the end of 2013 from its existing 29 centers. The company opened new showrooms in Mumbai South, Lucknow, Bhubaneswar and Delhi Central earlier this year and in Karnal and Vadodara last month. Last year also saw the opening of world-class Audi showrooms in Raipur, Kanpur, Goa, Navi Mumbai, Coimbatore, Delhi West, Nagpur and Bhopal. Further developments include Visakhapatnam, Noida and Mangalore among others.
