Great news for BMW Lovers! BMW India has launched its BMW 6 Series coupe BMW 650i and BMW 640d, in India, targetting the festive Diwali season. The new BMW 6 Series Coupe, has starred in the much awaited movie, Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol, releasing in December 2011; where Tom Cruise has been shown driving this vehicle.
The President, BMW India, Dr. Andreas Schaff, said at the launch that this new series of cars are a technological masterpiece and would create a powerful impression. He said that the car would touch one’s senses and quicken the pulse, equating it to the character of Tom Cruise in the movie Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol; hence the car is making its Hollywood debut with this movie.
Core Specifications of the Vehicle in India:
The new BMW 6 Series couple will be available in India in two variants: BMW 6 Series Petrol – 650i and the BMW 6 Series Diesel – 640d.
BMW 6 Series Petrol – 650i:
The Indian version of the BMW 6 Series 650i will get its power from an 8 cylinder 4.4 Litre MPFI Petrol Engine. . The vehicle will have a maximum power of 407 BHP and will reach a maximum torque of 600 Nm. The astounding part is that this vehicle will peak from 0 to 100 kmph in just a mere 4.9 seconds.
BMW 6 Series Diesel – 640d:
The Diesel version of the BMW 6 Series in India, will have a 6 cylindical 3.0 Litre CRDI Diesel Engine to boost its power to a peak value of 313 BHP and will achieve maximum torque of 630 Nm. The Diesel variant will reach the speed of 100 kmph from static position, in a highly commendable 5.5 seconds.
Both the diesel as well as the petrol versions have been fitted with 8 speed automatic transmission, and a dynamic driving control (which creates 4 different driving settings: Comfort+, Comfort, Sport & Sport+). In addition, they have included cruise control coupled with braking function for all four wheels.
Interiors:
Interiors would include sports seats for driver and front passenger, a sporty leather steering wheel with shift paddles, interior and exterior mirrors with an automatic anti-dazzle function, ambient lighting and automatic airconditioning to name a few.
Exterior Colours:
You will be spoilt for choice with the colour range that BMW 6 Series has to offer; it comes in a variant of 15 colours which include Black Sapphire, Titanium Silver, Space Grey and Deep Sea Blue to name some.
Safety Features:
All the modern safety equipment have been included in the BMW 6 Series and that includes frontal and side Airbags for driver and front passenger, head airbags for both front and rear, Dynamic Stability Controls, Crash Sensor (this disengages the Central locking function and shuts off the automatic fuel pump) and also 3 point seat belts on all seats.
Pricing:
In India, the BMW 6 Series Couple will come as a Completely Built-up Unit (CBU) and the ex-showroom pricing for the petrol and diesel variants will be Rs. 84.99 Lakhs and Rs. 74.99 Lakhs respectively.
