BMW i8 coupe: Launch due till 2015

The BMW Engineers tend to be fond of white and blue camouflage. A peak at the interior and the rear mounted battery pack of the BMW i8 really takes one’s breath away.

An insight into the cabin:

The top variant has been termed as the BMW i8 Spyder and the production version is to be called the i8 coupe, both of them maintain a strong analogy to BMW Vision Efficient Dynamics Concept that was set up first in 2009. There is although a lot to be done before this i8 can be brought out for sale in the year 2014. It is being anticipated to be priced between $150,000 and $200,000. Under the rear glass, this beast houses a couple of rows exposed with lithium-polymer batteries. Though this is equipped in the test car, it is definitely not going out to be a part of the production variants.

BMW i8 Spyder To Enter Production Two Years After Coupe

Though there is some issue with the battery placement which is apparently the cause of uneven centralized weight distribution, but the designing of the car is such that this doesn’t come to notice much. The packaging is commendable, fitting a 220 bhp turbocharged 1.5 liter and 3-cylindered gasoline fueled engine behind the cabin so smartly has proved one of BMW’s most impressive techniques. The i8 has a 20 mile electric only operating range, and it accelerates from 0-60 in just 5 seconds. The thick rimmed steering wheel, the console-mounted buttons for door locks, attractive lights, temperature controls and fan settings all leave an imprint of the standard BMW designing style and hardware.
