BMW India is focusing more on the localization

BMW, world’s largest luxury car maker has also been enjoying its leadership in the Indian market and to strengthen the same, company is now planning to develop new models in the country. With the rival luxury auto makers threatening its number one position in the Indian luxury segment auto group is now busy in constructing new strategy for better customer service and enhanced brand experience in order to maintain its hold on the market. And the localization of the models is one of the best solutions for BMW in India. While BMW is soon starting the assembly of the BMW 7 Series in just few months, the 1 series has also been planned to unveil from its Chennai plant.

For current, BMW develops its 3 series, 5 series and X1 in both petrol and diesel variant at its Chennai plant. Till now BMW has already invested about Rs. 180 crores in the Chennai plant, part warehouse situated in Mumbai and to develop dealership network in the big cities. Chennai facility currently produces about 11,000 units on double shift basis.

Speaking on the issue, President of BMW group India, Mr. Philipp Von Sahr said that for offer better value for money to the Indian customers BMW has its own plans. By the end of the year company will be assembling about 6 new cars locally in India. The localization will allow BMW to hit to the sub 25 lakh segment for the first time.

Audi is also closing with BMW in terms of sales, but Sahr still hopes that company will be maintaining its leadership spot with its stronger brand appeal and will surpass the last year’s sale figures.
