First Ever Spy Image of Jeep India Line-up Emerges

For a long back we were waiting for this moment and now it wowed us with all the power-dose of magnificent machines. After some quenching hiccups since the confirmation in December ‘12, no footprints of Jeep was spot until, as recently Autocar spied the three test mules of that brand in India.

In the spied image all three vehicles for India launch are clearly visible. On the left side, there stands a long wheel base version of Wrangler followed by the short-base in center. Most probably known as World War II Jeeps and (Willys CJ as well), they now had shed themselves to some most desirable niche class off roaders. It is expected to be powered with 2.8 liter common rail diesel engine producing 197 bhp, frugal enough to give a tough feel of military-buster at luxury ease.

Grand Cherokee is the first to stand on right, looking like the similar one to that of a Land Rover rival. However, recently it was shredded to new cosmetic changes, as well as mechanical one i.e. eight speed gearbox, this fourth-generation whip does not match to the facelift flick. Being powered with 3.0 liter common rail diesel it does make out 237 bhp very peacefully. Also tagged as WK2, it will prove its mettle against Mercedes Benz M Class as well.

However, there is a lot speculations that Jeep-Chrysler made B-segment SUV will also land here along with some other siblings, but still no words came on that.

Without an exception, all Jeep offerings will follow CBU route to India.

Getting back to the shorter-base Wrangler, we expect it to stride competitively with BMW X1, Toyota Fortuner, Audi Q3, upcoming Volvo V40 and many others, as going to be tagged on a nearest spot to 25-30 lakh INR range.
